Prepare with Citizen Voice! Disaster preparedness month and the 2012 General Election
Public welcome! Emergency Preparedness Fair at the
Northern California’s largest and most exciting Emergency Preparedness Fair will be held this Tuesday, September 18th, 2012, right on the grounds of California’s State Capitol. Hosted by the California Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA), one of Citizen Voice's grant funders, the event is open to the public and packed with great preparedness resources to inform and educate everyone about emergency response in California and how to be prepared for any disaster. Citizen Voice will kick-off its rollout of 40,000 Cal-EMA-branded SAFELY OUT™ Kits during the media event scheduled for 10:00am.
Alta California Regional Center will be awarded 1,500 SAFELY OUT™ Kits which will go to some of the most vulnerable populations in our area – independent living clients who live alone. Cal EMA describes the event: “Participants from of all levels of government [will] distribute information and resources regarding personal and corporate preparedness (before, during and after an emergency), personal safety and animal preparedness.” Visit FEMA’s Ready.gov site for more information regarding the Sacramento event here. Some of this year's event participants include: American Red Cross, Caltrans, CHP, Wal-Mart, Sacramento Metro Fire Dept., CA Department of Social Services, Teen CERT, CDPH, Cal FIRE, Shake-Out, CA Grocer’s, EMSA, FEMA Region IX, Grainger, Noah’s Wish, California Earthquake Authority, Department of Water Resources, City of Sacramento, OES, PG&E, West Sac, City CERT, Clear Channel, California Geological Survey, CVMA, CARES and California Volunteers.
Hope to see you there!
Prepare and inform yourself; CV’s “mini-debates” of CA’s Propositions now available!
Election day, November 6, may still seem far away, but you can never be too informed about what’s at stake – especially since California placed 11 propositions on the ballot! Luckily for you, Citizen Voice has made available free, non-partisan information and analysis in multiple formats to help you make your decisions! These include: “mini-debate” videos moderated by broadcast political analyst and Citizen Voice president Gary Dietrich and featuring the top proponents/opponents of each measure; audio clips, so you can listen to the pros and cons on the go; and easy-to-understand short summaries (both online and printable). Watch our behind-the-scenes Election Project video recently shot at Sacramento’s PACSAT studios during debate tapings which offers a glimpse into CV’s Nonpartisan Election Project 2012.
Accompanying the statewide proposition pages (located on CitizenVoice.org), will be Political Analyst Gary Dietrich’s media appearances and dialogue (archives and upcoming schedule on CV’s Media Center). Featured in media markets throughout California, Dietrich will be doing a media tour from late October through early November. In fact, Citizen Voice’s Election Project pages now have links to the inital round of our official media partners: KGO 810-AM, KTXL Fox40 and KFBK 92.5-FM/1530-AM. These CV partner stations link the public directly to CitizenVoice.org through their web sites and on-air mentions.
