Largest grant to date for the SAFELY OUT™ Project!
We are extremely pleased to announce that the California Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA) has approved a grant of $500,000 for Citizen Voice’s SAFELY OUT™ Project. Grant proceeds will be used to purchase, assemble, and distribute 40,000 SAFELY OUT™ Kits, including 10,000 Spanish-language kits, in targeted areas throughout California over the next two years. This grant will allow us to broaden our outreach and public education objectives, by aligning our activities with key Cal EMA preparedness events occurring during National Preparedness Month, ShakeOut, Tsunami Awareness Week, and the Golden Guardian Full-Scale Exercise. We appreciate the strong support we have received from Cal EMA and this funding which will provide a crucial boost to our efforts to take the SAFELY OUT™ Project to the next level in meeting our one million kit goal for California.
September is Preparedness Month
This month, Citizen Voice’s SAFELY OUT™ Project is reminding everyone to get a SAFELY OUT™ Kit and be prepared. With fires, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, power outages, and more, you never know if YOU will need to evacuate or make sure your family is “SAFELY OUT” of harm’s way. The SAFELY OUT™ Project has already participated in one Preparedness Month event at California’s State Capitol with the California Emergency Management Agency (CalEMA), and will be traveling to San Francisco and Los Angeles in the next couple of weeks for two more events in partnership with CalEMA and encourage people to get “SAFELY OUT”. To find out more about these events click here or go to http://www.calema.ca.gov/NewsandMedia/Pages/Preparedness-Month.aspx.
