Golden Guardian Flood Exercise in Natomas

The California Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA) is conducting its annual Golden Guardian Exercise this week from Tuesday, May 17, 2011 through Thursday, May 19, 2011. This year’s scenario, based on a catastrophic flood striking the Central Valley, will allow local, state, and federal agencies, as well as private sector organizations, to exercise their disaster response and recovery plans. We are pleased to announce that as part of the activities planned for this week, Citizen Voice will be joining with Cal EMA on two SAFELY OUT™ Kit distribution events. On Thursday, May 19th, we will be partnering with the Natomas Unified School District (NUSD) to distribute 8,000 SAFELY OUT™ Kits, sponsored by Cal EMA and Pinnacle Emergency Management, to all NUSD elementary and middle school students to take home to their families that day. The second event is planned for Friday, May 20th, at the John Ehrhardt School in Elk Grove. Citizen Voice and Cal EMA will be distributing 500 kits, sponsored by Cal EMA, to students at the Ehrhardt School as part of a school assembly highlighting family disaster preparedness activities. We are very excited to be participating in these two events, to assist these students and their families to become better prepared for disasters.
